Have you ever heard the word "Syu-Ha-Ri"?
This is the way we learn something from teachers or tutors.
"Syu" means to keep.
At the beginning of studying something, we need to keep the teaching of seniors. It is fundamental, as you know.
"Ha" means to break.
At the next step, we break the principle and make some applications on them. It is good to learn.
"Ri" means to separate.
Next, we separate from the teaching and make your own way on the things.
Syu-Ha-Ri is very old word from several hundred years ago. I keep it in my mind, and I intend to do it.

Have you ever heard (of) the word "Syu-Ha-Ri"?
At the beginning of studying something, we need to keep to the teaching of our seniors.
At the next step, we break the principle and make some alterations to it. (I changed this because "principle" is singular but "them" is plural. You could also say ".. we break the principles and make some alterations to them.")
It is good to learn /for learning.
Next, we separate from the teaching (altogether) and make our own way on the things.
I'll keep it in my mind, and I intend to do it.
