I like them no matter what kind of cat they are or how they looked.

I live in a boarding house, and the landlord forbids pets (and I think we better not have one).

Some days coincidentally I have to stay at my office until around 9pm because there is some left over work to completed. [ "coincidentally" should be moved closer to the part about the kitten]

While I was busy with my PC, I suddenly heard a soft voice. [While working on my PC, I suddenly heard a soft voice.]

It sounded more like a breath than a voice tough.

And I was really startled by it.

Then I found a tired-and-hungry-looking kitten on the floor near my desk. [tired-and-hungry-looking can be good for informal writing, but "Then I found a kitten that looked tired and hungry.." is better for formal things.] :)

I guess it entered my office trough the front door that I intentionally left open.

I sighed (relieved) and felt so pity sorry for the kitten. Then I remembered that earlier in the afternoon, my office held a Syukuran (expression of gratitude to God) party, and we have some leftover food in the back.

So, I fed it with some pieces of chicken, and she (later I found that it was a female kitten) ate it hungrily.

After she finished eating, I intended to put her out of the office, but she looked so tired and cold.

So I let her stay and napped near my feet.

The next day, she came to my office again.

Therefore i have to take responsibility for it.

Well, I thought that didn't sound bad.

Since I really like cats, then I decided to keep it in the yard behind my office.

I built a cat house from a cardboard and put some scraps of fabric in it.

And I usually brought some meatballs for her in the afternoon.

I usually played with her during the noontime break. [or lunch break]

She's just so cute, that I couldn't keep from holding her in my arms, ^_^.

Sometimes I bought her milk too (since she was still small, she only drank one spoonful of milk and I drank the rest :P).

And about her silent she recovered her voice after a few days.

Maybe she lost her voice because she was so tired and hungry.

That just make me love her more.

He is always traveling and rarely comes to our office.

Well, sometimes he comes every one or two months.

One day, he came and found out that there was a kitten in the back yard.

He didn't like it.

He asked me to keep her out of the office or to give it to someone else that could keep it.

It's an office, and we should not keep any pets in it.

So I decided to ask my friends if any of them wanted the kitten.

But nobody wanted her.

So, helplessly, I decide to put her in the street, hoping that there will be someone will pick her up and take her as their pet.

When I drop her and walk away to leave her, she kept running after me which just made me more sad.

So I ran and left her alone.

From afar I watched her, confused and looking around for me..

But a few minutes later, a car stopped near her. A young, handsome man came out, picked her up, and brought her into the car..

Shortly after, the car drove away..

And I just followed it with my eyes..

Hoping that that man will take care of her, and grow her into a healthy and cute cat..

It's sad to send her away, but I know I couldn't have done anything for her.

Instead, maybe she will find a better life with new a master..

It's sad, but it's just what's best for us..

"to give a sigh of relief"= ほっとする 2. For a sentence like this, it is easier to understand if you separate it into two sentences.

So I let her stay and she napped near my feet.
