I saw the US TV show "Hell's kitchen"on FOX TV.
That's my favorite TV show.
The show is a kind of reality show competition to get the right of participant's own restaurant.
Of course the winner is only one.

I think there are a lot of reality shows on US, UK TV.
But Japan has not so much.
That's Why??
As I thought Japanese are not good at argument in front of camera.
In Japan,It is said that we have " culture of shame".
Japanese often says we shouldn't do things that spoil the harmony among the members.
For example,"KY(=Kuuki-ga-Yomenai/空気が読めない)" is most popular young word in Japan from 2008, it means the people who can't read between the line.
Of course there are many people who are good at argument in Japan,
but I think that is one of the reason why Japan has reality shows not so mach.

Also the only people on TV in Japan are already famous @0@ In the US and the UK,the point of reality shows--and game shows and variety shows--is to showcase ordinary people...@0@

A year or two ago there was a reality show here called "I Survived a Japanese Game Show." Some Americans went to Tokyo and competed in wacky Japanese-style games like in Takeshi's Castle. The winners got to go to an onsen, eat sushi, etc., whereas the losers had to harvest rice or pound mochi.
