Hello!

#1 - I think this means: seat belts can be uncomfortable, but if you don't wear a seat belt in the car and you get into a car accident, then you could get injured and have to be carried out on a stretcher. So it's like, "Wear your seat belt, because getting injured and being put on a stretcher is a lot worse."

#2 - Some people may think that cars make people lazy, because if you drive a car everywhere instead of walking/biking then you don't get exercise. But cars are expensive, so you have to work hard to earn enough money to buy one. Therefore, even though there are people who say "automobiles make you lazy," they won't understand that the people who bought the cars were not lazy. but hardworking, until they have to work hard to buy a car themselves.

I hope these explanations make sense!
