so much for the expression 'so much for~~'
Scene: The park. The four guys are carrying remote control rockets.
Howard: Unbelievable. Components I built are on the International Space Station, and I get a ticket for launching a model rocket in the park.
Leonard: I don’t know if the ticket was so much for the launch as it was for you telling the policewoman “you have to frisk me, I have a rocket in my pants.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Would you please explain the meaning of the expression 'so much for the launch' above?
I've found definition that says
'used to suggest that something has not been useful or successful'
but I don't think that's not it.
이해가 안가요 ㅠㅠ

The idiom SO MUCH FOR is usually at the BEGINNING of a sentence! And yes, it means that someone has failed/not succeeded.
"Well, so much for my private tutoring in Korean. I still got a bad grade." (in other words, I tried but it was useless)
Thank you so much!!!!
정말 감사합니다!! ㅠ.ㅠ
