I saw a dentist today because I had a toothache. The dentist told me that it would cost fifteen hundreds dollars to fix it. Whoa! It's too expensive! Does it cost such a lot of money to fix just one tooth? Why is it so expensive? I guess it wouldn't cost such a lot even without insurance, if I were in Japan. I know it is so hard to live in the U.S. without insurance, but I think the cost itself is too expensive here. My insurance could cover about 40% of cost, but it is still too expensive for me.

That's why you need to go to the dentist regularly, not just when you have a problem. Also, health insurance in America usually doesn't cover dental work, that's another insurance.....

I'm so sorry. Dental problems are the most annoying health problems to have, I think.

In Austria, insurance is mandatory. As a student I pay a bit more than 700 euros a year so that if I get sick and need a tooth fixed or an operation, I don't have to pay it extra.

But that also doesn't always work. I once needed a front tooth taken out and replaced with a fake one, cos I chipped it at an accident. The insurance payed for the taking out, but not for putting in the fake tooth. So I had to keep being in pain for months until I had enough money for the replacement.
