I've been away from lang-8 like in forever....I found it hard to keep doing things more than 3 days...haha

I'm already back home and now I feel like everything about my exchange in Texas was just a dream. I had so much fun there. As I was in reminiscence of my life in Texas,I suddenly decided to go back to the State for a job within 10 years. I heard it's a good idea to set deadlines for things we wanna make happen and I agree with that, so did I.

I feel my English has been diminishing since I came back home...I'd better do something so my English won't go away lol

These days I'm busy with applying for summer internships and it's real tough!!!! I spent tons of times writing online resumes and filling our application forms on companies' website...sigh. I know it's competitive(since many students from prestigious universities would have applied for companies as well) and there is little chance I can be an intern... but I'll do my best!

Today when I was watching a TV show and I came across the expression 'cry in one's mouth' but I couldn't understand. If anyone has an answer for it, pls let me know :-)

  • These days I'm busy with applying for summer internships and it's really tough!!!! Saying "real tough" is kind of a typical American mistake! haha, many people say "real" when it should be "really"

I have never, in my life, heard of this expression to cry in one´s mouth! All I can say is that possibly it means to not cry out loud, but really I have never seen it before!

Thank you for correcting and revising. I really appreciate it.

As for the second sentence from the top, the expression stemmed off of an old Japanese saying. I was intended to say 'people generally have difficulty doing things constantly and keeping their resolutions. Does it make sense to you?

Yea when I was in the US people often used 'real' lol

You're welcome ^^

I think what you say above makes more sense

'people generally have difficulty doing things constantly and keeping *TO* their resolutions.

(small correction)

Haha so when you said "real good" Americans thought ah this girl speaks so good (haha, here you should say well, but many Americans incorrectly will say "good").

thank you :-)

yes I know these are grammatically incorrect but I wanted make my English more American or get closer to the one people actually use in their real life.

Hi Annie,

Ah I understand this, it´s good to use phrases or expressions people use in a particular region to integrate better (I do this in Spain for example with expressions common to the area I live in that aren´t used in other parts), however, when we talk about pure grammatical errors, this is just my opinion, but, I think it´s better not to use them. Of course it´s just my opinion and feel free to keep saying "real good" etc, haha.
