Today, I am going to talk about two really short stories related two words which I recently learned, a scallop and a dried persimmon.

# Scallop
Someday, I was having a dinner with a Russian friend. That was kind of a buffet where we can eat as much as possible during an hour. I saw this type of menu is called ‘all you can sushi’ in the states. In the restaurant, people are seated near the chain (or conveyor belt) which delivers sushi, and take what we want on the belt.
The friend was waiting some sushi, so I asked him what he is waiting for. He told me he doesn’t know the name of sushi in English but it is a shell fish. For my friend, I ordered ‘the shell fish’ to the chef, and I asked what its name is. It was a scallop. :)
There is no special reason but I had not tried shell fish sushi. After we receive the scallop sushi, I also tried it and its taste is much better than I expected.

# Dried Persimmon
For celebrating the lunar calendar year, I have received the present. We were able to select one thing among Apple, Pear, Dried Persimmon, and something I can’t remember. Anyway, I selected a box of dried persimmons. The Russian friend who loves scallop :) also selected dried persimmon, so I asked him there is a dried persimmon in Russia. He answered “Of course”. It was impressive because I thought a dried persimmon is a Korean traditional food. However, I soon realized it is just a fruit and drying fruit for long preserving is common way not only in Korea.
