important thing
It isn't important what you work, your estate, academic background, thoughts, and sometimes even your character.
The most important thing is what you think, what you do and what you feel.

(The Most) Important Thing
Where you work, your estate, your academic background, your thoughts, and sometimes even your character - none of these are important. [[In English it's a little more natural to list the subjects first, and then describe them here.]]
The most important thing is what you think, what you do and what you feel. [[In the above sentence you stated that your thoughts don't matter, so this becomes contradictory. What were the original words in Japanese?]]
original is this.
「職業も地位も学歴も思想も、時には性格さえも、重要ではない。ただそこで何をし、
何を考え、何を感じたかということだけが問題である。」
(by 郷原宏)
I would translate that as, "Your occupation, (social) status, academic background, ideology, and sometimes even your personality, are not important. The most important things are what you do, what you think, and what you feel."
"Ideology" and "thought" are not quite the same, so I was a little confused. (^^) Thank you!
Thank you!
Very nice translation!
It's helpful for me!!!!
