UNIT2 Simple Present(V + ている)

Study this example situation:
Alex is a bus driver, but now he is in bed asleep.
He is not driving a bus.(He is asleep.)

彼はバスを運転している。(彼はバスの運転手です。)
　He drives a bus.(He is a bus driver.)

運転している。働いている。している。is the Simple present.

We use the simple present to talk about things in general. We use it to say that something happens all the time or repeatedly, or that something is true in general.

■看護婦は、病院で患者の世話をしている。
Nurses take car of patients in hospital.
■私はいつも午前８時に仕事に出かけている。
I usually leave for work at 8 a.m.

■地球は太陽の周りを回っている。
The earth goes around the sun.
■喫茶店は、朝７時半に開店している。

We use the simple present to say how often we do things;
■私は毎朝８時に起きている。
　 I get up at 8:00 every morning.
■どのくらいの頻度で歯医者に通っているか？
　 How often do you go to the dentist?
■ジュリーは,頻繁にはお茶を飲んでいない。
　 Julie doesn't drink tea very often.
■ロバートは、夏には週に２,３度いつもテニスをしている。
　 Robert usually plays tennis two or three times a week in the summer.
