Study this example situation:<br />Alex is a bus driver, but now he is in bed asleep.<br />He is not driving a bus.(He is asleep.)<br /><br />彼はバスを運転している。(彼はバスの運転手です。)<br />　He drives a bus.(He is a bus driver.)<br /><br />運転している。働いている。している。is the Simple present.<br /><br />We use the simple present to talk about things in general. We use "Verb + ことができる" to say something is possible.<br />We use predicative mode of a Verb + ことができる.<br /><br /> ■私たちは、私たちのホテルの窓から海を見ることができる。<br />　　We can see the ocean from our hotel window.<br /><br />The negative is "Verb + ことはできません"<br />　■あいにく金曜日のあなたのパーティにいくことはできません。<br />　　I'm afraid I can't come to your party on Friday.<br /><br />We use potential voice, and potential voice is more common.<br /><br />  1)Verb stem of vowel-inflection form + eru <br /><br />  2)Verb stem of i form + rareru<br />   ■私たちは、私たちのホテルの窓から海を見られる。<br />　　　We are able to see the ocean from our hotel window.<br /><br />  2)Verb stem of e form + rareru<br /><br />　3)potential voice of irregular verb<br />    する　→　できる　来る　→　来られる<br /><br />But "Verb + ことができる"  is easily used adverbial particles： は・も・さえ・ぐらい<br />　■新しい冷蔵庫は、食品を保温することもできる。<br />　　A new refrigerator can also keep food hot.<br />　■私たちは、会話することさえできません。<br />　　We can't even have a conversation.<br />　■私は、この国を出ることくだいできる。<br />　　I can leave this country at least.<br />　  　　<br /> 　 <br />

The partitions of Poland took place in the thrird of 18th century.<br />The partitions were carried out by the Russian Empire, Kingdom of Prussia, and Hapsburg Austria.<br />Three countries erased all independent state from the map at 1795.<br />The former Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth staged an uprising against the Russian Empire at January 22,1863.<br />This uprising is called the January Uprising.<br />It ended in complete failure until the last insurgents were captured in 1865. <br />And several hundred thousand people of Polish carried out a deportation to Siberia.<br /><br />Over 50 years have since passed, Poland regained its independence as the Second Polish Republic shortly after the armistice between the Allies and Germany in the First World War.<br /><br />But Polish in Siberia were forced the threat of persecution because of the Polish-Soviet War(1919-1921).<br /><br /><br />http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOlbMFIZha4

On March 12th, 1985, Iraqi forces began air raids on Teheran, the capital city of Iran.<br />Foreign residents who lived in Teheran began preparations for evacuating Iran.<br />But on March 17th, President Saddam Hussein released a statement saying "Iraqi forces will shoot down all airplanes which will fly over Teheran after 8:30 p.m. March 19th"<br />After the statement, countries started preparing for getting out of Iraq by their military airplanes or commercial aircraft.<br />There was no law that set SDF's action for urgently evacuating Japanese expatriates, because SDF at the time came under severe criticism from left wing and civil-right activist, including Social Democratic Party Japan.<br />The Japanese government asked other countries for help, but we were turned down in our request for help because they were preoccupied with rescuing their citizens.<br />The Japanese government appealed our plight to Republic of Turkey.<br />And Republic of Turkey sent two airplanes of Turkish Airlines to Teheran.<br />Two airplane of Turkish Airlines crossed the border to Republic of Turkey with 215 people of Japanese expatriates in Iran just before time-limit.  <br /><br />http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRTrhXCQ3RA&feature=related
