I always think Taiwan is a country embrased by so many external cultures, so Taiwanese are easy to accept foreign things. I just watched a TV program talking about Taiwanese and foreign boys. Why foreigners are so popular in Taiwan? Those foreigners on TV said when they are in night clubs, it's easier to pick up girls in Taiwan than in their own countries. Even my professor who is a sister from America told us in class about this situation beofre.
Taiwanese girls like foreigners because of these following reasons:
1. Foreigners are handsome?
2. They want to have a mixed baby.
3. She will be the envy of other Taiwanese girls because she has a foreign boyfriend.
Taiwanese are xenomanias. I am not saying all the Taiwanese are all like this, but most of Taiwanese have this trend including me. If there are two boys standing in fornt of me, one is a Taiwanese and another is an American, I will talk to the American boy. Even the Taiwanese is really a handsome man and the American is ugly, I will first talk to the American. Why? It's all out of curiosity. The first sight I see is their appearance, the American is so different with me, so I am curious.
I wonder how you guys think of this phonomenon. Do you think Taiwanese are easy to pick up? Are Taiwanese are xenomanias?

The other people correcting this journal entry haven't even noticed this, but of course you are thinking of "foreigners" being one particular race, otherwise you wouldn't say "Foreigners are handsome?" and also you mention the idea of having a "mixed child". So you obviously think "foreigners" have certain physical characteristics. Don't the other people visiting this journal entry think that's a misconception at all? To think that "foreigner" simply refers to one race of people?
If you mean by "foreigner" simply "everyone outside Taiwan", then it's best for you not to talk too much about physical characteristics, because it sounds like the men everywhere except Taiwan look relatively better than the men in Taiwan. Do you really think Taiwanese men are uglier than Japanese, Chinese, Tibetan, Vietnamese and Cambodian men? That's what you're saying, because you said that Taiwanese girls think "Foreigners are handsome".
Here's another problem - do the people of Taiwan have an adequate word to replace the term "foreigner" to refer to white people when they move to the U.S./U.K./Australia/etc, or do they just continue to use the term to describe Westerners...when in fact it is they who are relatively new to those countries (and you certainly can't pull the aboriginal argument with Scandinavia or England now can you?)
Get a grip - we're not in Taiwan, we're online, where there is not local and foreign.
The "foreigners" I mean are people who are not from Taiwan, so of course they are including other Asians and any other countries people. And I mentioned to American is just a random choice, I didn't have any racist thinking. If you get mad because I used American, I think that's not a big problem of mine. Taiwanese girls like Japanese and Koreans, too. You can't image how J-pop and K-pop fever spread in Taiwan. And I said foreigners are handsome, it's all because of commercial scheme. We watch many foreign TV programs, movies, and listen to foreign music, so we will like those entertainers on TV. Then when we meet people who are from those countries, we will be interested about their countries. Besides, I added question mark behind, so I don't always agree with foreigners are handsome. I think some Taiwanese boys are handsome. And I don't know if you just read my journal quickly, in the last paragraph I said it's all out of curiosity to speak first to a foreigner instead of a Taiwanese.
And "foreigner" is just a noun refers to a person who is from different country with me. So to you, I am a foreigner. And even foreigners in Taiwan, they will think Taiwanese are foreigners. This is my concept of "foreigner". Not refers to what country or what color the person is.

I wouldn't agree that by Japanese and Korean people would justify the racial connotation here. How are other Asian people regarded in Taiwan such as Arabic, Cambodian, Indian and Vietnamese?
