It was written by Haruki Murakami who is one of the most famous Japanese author in the world.
It is contains seven horror stories which we can encounter with in daily life.
The most impressive sentence in this book as below.
"There is nothing which I have to do or go. But I have to leave here."(It is very difficult to translate into English.)
"やらなくちゃいけないことなんて、どこにもひとつもない。でもここにだけは、いるわけにはいかないんだ。"
I think many japanese who live in the city feel similar threat like this.

It is contains seven horror stories about things which we can encounter with in daily life.

I think many japanese who live in the city feel similar threats like this.
I translate this as, "There's nowhere for me to go & nothing for me to do, but I can't stay here."
