In 2008, the Olympic Games was held in Beijing, the capital city of China. To us Chinese people, the Olympics is not only a major international sporting event but also a significant honor. But just like every coin has two sided, it benefits us a lot, but it also has some drawbacks.
The Olympics brings a great opportunity to China not only in economic but also in culture. During the Games, thousands of foreigners come to Beijing to join the event. They spend lots of money on accommodations, travels expenses and tickets. It is reported that during the Olympic Games, the selling of Fuwa increases almost three times. Besides, the Olympics shows the beauty and history of China to the whole world. All the traditional clothes, handwritings, traditional chinese paintings exhibited in the opening ceremony of Olympics surprises the world.
On the contrary, hosting such an international sporting event also has some adverse effect on China. To be specific, it costs too much money and time. In order to make the Beijing Olympic Games one of the most memorable, a large amount of chinese people spend days and nights on it. Besides, much money was spent for building the stadiums. However,after the event, almost all the stadium will not be used. In addition, when foreigners come to China to watch the event, they will find out the true beauty of China, however, they will also notice some bad habits of chinese people.
All in all, we must admit that the advantages outweight the disadvantages. And that is why every country wants to have the opportunity to hold the Olympics.
