"동생에게 먹을 것을 양보하고, 동생이 잘 자는지 관심을 가졌다."

Can I say like this?

"I gave way a bread to my little brother and I paid attention to if he slept soundly."

"I gave way a bread to my little brother and I paid attention to if whether he slept soundly (or not) ." I think "if" is OK but sounds a bit strange...

Please check this up please~
Do you want "I gave way a bread to my little brother-" to sound a certain way?
