Hajj
Today was the biggest day in Hajj.
People go to Mekka for more than a month for Hajj. However the actual rituals take only 5 days max. People; since they arrive from all over the world, and it's a one life time journey, it's an important opportunity to do other rituals. Hajjaj (pilgrims) visit Al Medina too, where the prophet (peace be upon him) and some of his followers are buried, and they visit the mosque of Al Medina , the first mosque ever.
The ritual of Hajj starts the 8th of the last month of the Islamic calendar, called Thi Al Hijja. That was yesterday, when the Hajjaj went to Mena to pass the night. today they continue to Arafa. Al Hajj is Arafa (الحج عرفة) such is the saying of the prophet (PBUH), and it means that Arafa day the most important thing in Hajj. All pilgrims stand at Arafa (it's a mountain name), more than three million people standing at the same time at the same place, wearing all the same white cloth: for men the outfit is obligatory, white, woven, and with no stitch. for women they just have to wear Hijab with no fancy things on it, no obligation for color, but most women chose white, others prefer black. All human look alike , riches and poor, Kings and laborers!
Tomorrow, the 10th of the Thi Al Hijja, is Eid Al Adeha. Every Muslim who have the financial ability, have to buy a sheep and slaughter it at the day of Eid. The meat is shared with less fortunate people. For pilgrims, everyone of them also buy a sheep, but don't share its meat, he have to gave it all. Since they are more than three million people in a small place, they just pay for the sheep, and associations take care of it, to distribute the meat among poor people.
The Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam, and it's the only one to be an obligation only once in life time, and it's an obligation only on people who can do it: financially (a long travel that can cost a lot) , physically (and yet many old and sick people go), and who doesn't have too much responsibilities that can be disrupted if he leaves for such a long period. The travel can cost a lot, and yet people manage to keep money for it. The rituals can be difficult and hard (the walking, the standing, the crowd and hustle..) and yet you can see many old and sick people there, hold on portable chair. But for those with responsibilities, they are asked to make sure people's affairs wont be disturb, other wise should post his hajj for another year!
My sister and her husband went to Hajj this year, so it will be a special Eid this year, without her visiting us, but her children will are staying with us :)

For pilgrims, everyone of them must also buy a sheep, but don't share its meat, they have to sacrifice all of it. ✡Like Abraham his son.☪
Since they are more than three million people in a small place, they just pay for the sheep, and associations take care of it, to distribute the meat among poor people. ☪ meaning the slaughter, ritual sacrifice, and distribution of the remains among the poor.✡

The travel can cost a lot, and yet people manage to save money for it. ✡The trip to... you-know- where is a very long one as well.☪
The rituals can be difficult and hard (the walking, the standing, the crowd and hustle..) and yet you can see many old and sick people there, seated in portable chair.
My sister and her husband went to Hajj this year, so it will be a special Eid this year. She will not be visiting, but her children are staying with us :)
Ce pélerinage doit être extrêmement impressionnant et rester un moment très émouvant dans la vie de celui qui l'a fait.
The Kaaba it self was restore by Abraham (it was said that it was originally built bu Adam himself and represent the frequented house البيت المعمورin heaven ). The restoration the Kaaba is a restoration of monotheism too. That's why at Hajj, pilgrims rise their voice with Tawhid (monotheism).
So, Hajj is really about monotheism, to remind people that there is only one God and he have no partner.
Thank you for corrections アリスB·トクラス (sorry I don't know how to pronounce your name!) and comments
Au fait tous ceux qui visite cet endroit (surtout au passé quand il n y avait pas de Télé qui passe El Hajj en direct) passe des mois a raconter leur aventure et tout le monde écoute passionnément :D
All people look alike , riches and poor, Kings and laborers!
'riches' is like when talking about the material things of someone. For instance, a king might have a palace or gold coins. Those are his 'riches'.
rich, poor (adjectives)
rich is the adjective

When talking about a day we dont say 'at the day' we say 'on the day'.eg, on the 8th of october i went ... or, on sunday I went etc
Hope you had enjoyed the Eid :) صحى عيدك
I imagine all of my Arabic lang-8 friends in a car going to Mecca every year. I don't know what to think if that is not true. :)
Actually, going to Mecca during Hajj time is not easy, every country has its share of places, and it distribute them among its willing people by chance (like a draw of lottery) because everybody want to go!
I didn't try my chance yet, maybe I will... :)
