The difficulty of translation from one language to another
Apr 09th 2010 16:06
It is very difficult to translate from one language to another. For example, when you want to say Japanese saying “Nagai-me de miru” in English, literally you could say it “Look with long eyes”, which doesn’t make any sense to natives. Translating is not only converting words but also changing the way of thinking. For doing good translation, we should know their culture, history, believes the back ground of the words. Though, it is very hard to translate from one language to another, it’s worth to deal with it and it enrich our life.
"Nagai-me de miru" can be said “Give him a chance!”.
To make a good translation, we should know their culture, history, believes the back ground of the words.
Thank you for your attention!
Is that all I should need to be corrected at?
I don't think so ::)
