For years, the Haneda Airport had been regarded as the hub for domestic lines, not international.
When we go abroad, we basically had to go Narita International Airport which is inconvenient because of its location, far from Tokyo.
It remains that we have to use Narita Airport to go abroad in many cases.
But for some destinations, we can use near Haneda Airport from now.

It's a happy news for us.

Chikuwa is used in various dish.
In my case, it is connected with Oden which is a kind of Nabe (hot pot).
Many kind of ingredients, such us Japanese radish, boiled egg, 牛すじ(牛 means cow. すじ is a stiff part of leg which connects bone and muscles at a joint. How do you say it in English?) as well as Chikuwa, was boiled in stock for a long time with low heat.

It sounds tasty, doesn't it?

竹輪はいろんな料理に使われます。
私の場合は、おでん(鍋料理の一つ)を思い浮かべます。
たくさんの種類の食材、例えば大根、ゆで卵、牛すじ(牛はcowで、すじは足の関節部分で骨と筋肉をつないでいる固い場所。英語で何て言うの？)、あと竹輪、をだし汁の中で弱火で長い時間煮込みます。

So she and I took part in it.

Bouldering is a kind of a free climbing.
The name of this activity comes from 'boulder' which is a large round rock.
People climb a large natural lock outdoor or an wall with artificial holds indoor.
They use no tools but a cushion mat on the ground.

In the event we participated, we could climb a bouldering wall with colorful rocks which is installed temporally.
My daughter did her best and enjoyed it with my support, I hold her bottom during she hold the wall.

I also challenged several courses, some were easy and others made me say 'No way!'.
After doing it, my hands were trembling by exhausted.

It can be two different meanings depends on contexts, 'You are cheerful' or 'you are not mature.'

If you want to say the former, you should say 'あなたは若々しい(わかわかしい)'.
It means 'You looks young (for your age)', the word '若々しい' is basically used as a positive one.

If you want to say the latter, you can say 'あなたは青い(あおい)'.
'青い' means 'blue', but also 'not mature'.

According to one dictionary, 'あなたはまだ青い' can be translated to 'You are still wet behind the ears' into English.

Wet behind the ears?
I can't imagine like what the situation is.

'舞' means a dance or to dance.
'茸' means fungi or mushroom.

It was said that, because of the good taste, people danced with happiness when they found this mushroom.
That's the reason why it was named as '舞茸'.

Actually, I get happy enough to dance when I see it sold at low price in a store.

By the way, 'hen of the wood' is interesting name.
It looks like a crest of a male chicken.

椅子(いす) can be a chair, an armchair, or a stool.
長椅子(ながいす) can be a bench or a sofa(settee/couch).

椅子 means all furniture on which people sit.
When we have to distinguish them, we say like that,

chair : 普通の椅子(means an ordinary one),背もたれのある椅子(means an one with a back)
armchair : アームチェア
stool : パイプ椅子(means a one made of pipes), 丸椅子 (means a round one), スツール
bench : ベンチ
sofa(settee/couch) : ソファ

On the other hand, there is the word 席(せき) which means a place for particular people.
It can be used both sitting and standing.

For example,

運転席(うんてんせき) : a seat for a driver in a car.
観客席(かんきゃくせき) : a place for audiences, not always seats.
満席(まんせき) : full occupancy, there are no seats or room available.

椅子席 may be an interesting expression for you.
It is a place for audiences consists of chairs, stools, or benches).

Compare to the past, today's puzzle consits of smaller pieces, so it is not required a space.
It is good for me.
I chose 500 pieces one after about an hour.

The puzzle I chose consits of half-transparent pieces.
It was more difficult than ordinary one because you have to find out the head and tail.
Additionally, it is for the firat time in ages so that it took many time to complete it.

It was very hard but fun.

The day was established with twists and turns.
In 1957, about 20 years later of the end of World War II, the bill for establishment of this day was proposed first, but refused.
Then, the bill was proposed over and over, but all of them were refused because there are an objection by the people who afraid that the day might increase patriotism too much.
A committee was set up for discussion how the day should be.
After the discussion, the bill was finally passed in 1966.

Actually, most of people don't do anything special at this day, not even think of it.
Some temple and shrine seems to hold some events for the day, but I don't care of it.
I will just stay just like as Sunday.

So I will write this here for sharing.

Index finger : 人差し指 (ひとさしゆび)
Middle finger : 中指 (なかゆび)
Ring finger : 薬指 (くすりゆび)
Little finger : 小指 (こゆび)

The Japanese word "指（ゆび）" is almost same as "finger".
The difference between them is of including "thumb" in Japanese "指" as "親指".
So most of Japanese are surprised when they find that thumb is not finger.

Then, the Japanese word "薬" can be translated as "drug" or "medicine".
Do you know why it is named like that?

The fingers you call "Ring finger" are known as the most difficult one to control in fingers.
Old Japanese considered the least chance to use as clean, so that doctors used the ring fingers to dispense medicines.

That's the reason why we call it "薬指" in Japanese.

I don't think so, because the seaweed can't be bigger that the amount of water, and your stomach can't store water much than the size of a stomack.

I found the words "frost needles" in some dictionary as translation of "霜柱(しもばしら、shimobashira)", but other words "needle ice" appears in the Wikipedia.
