Earthquakes and Floods
Recently, I contacted my old friend. From her email, what surprise was now she is in Australia. Too bad is she lives in Brisbene! Fortunately, she wasn't affected by the massive flood and she is fine. So, I'm reliefed. On her email, it is written that Britbene needs two year for full recovery and everybody is cleaning up. In Japan, I could watch some news about the flood and I could understand many people are now in evacuate centres.
On the 17th of January, 1995, there were a big earthquake in Japan. This is called Great Hanshin earthquake. This is not the same as the flood, but many people had similar experiences to the flood. Some people died and some people lost their home and went to evacuate centres.
Yesterday, some memorial events were held to remember Great Hanshin earthquake and to prepare for the natural disaster. One lecturer told that people should be more kind and take pride when you become a refugee. Water and food supply is limited so that people should share with the kindness, not things.
Recently one website was launched to share the knowledge for refugees.

It's only in Japanese, but there are a lot of movies. Please click pictures, then you can watch.

Recently, I contacted an old friend. ['my' sounds like you only have one. 'an' sounds like you have many.]
When I received her email, what surprised me most was that she is now in Australia.
I think it is unfortunate that she lives in Brisbane!
However, she wasn't affected by the massive flood and she is fine.
I was relieved to hear that.
She wrote in her email, it is written that everybody is cleaning up in Brisbane and it will take two years to recover fully.
In Japan, I have been watching some news about the floods and I saw that many people are now in evacuation centres.
On the 17th of January, 1995, there was a big earthquake in Japan.
This is/was called the Great Hanshin earthquake.
Some people died and some people lost their homes and went to evacuation centres.
Yesterday, some memorial events were held to remember the Great Hanshin earthquake and some lectures were held to help prepare for future natural disasters.
One lecturer said that people sometimes lose their dignity in times of trouble.
Water and food supply is limited so that people need to share the available resources as fairly as possible and be reasonable to others.
