kitashi : Question about a sentence: "You can only ... so many ..." (4)

What is the meaning of this sentence?:
"I can only do so many things in one day."

I think this means "There is a limitation on the number of things that I can do in one day." Is this right?

Another example from the Internet:
"I hate how you can only fit so many letters in making a fan page."
What does this mean?

Thanks!

kitashi : Translation and Transfer (3)

Today, I had a English-Japanese translation exam again. That was even more difficult than one of six month ago. I couldn't complete the translation in time... Tired.

After the exam was finished, I went straight to Matsuyama airport and made a flight to Haneda, Tokyo. Then I came to here, Narita city. (Surely I had set the schedule too tightly.) I stay here tonight, and yesterday I'm going to go to Atlanta.

行ってきます！

kitashi : Question about a sentence: "I'm a creator." (3)

In Japan, craftworkers, designers, musicians etc. are sometimes called "creator" (クリエイター).
I wonder whether that is a correct use of the word or a kind of 'Japanglish'.

My questions are:
(1) For example, "I am a creator of that poster." is natural sentence. Right?
(2) If someone says "I am a Creator." when he introduce himself in English, are you think it's strange?
(3) "I am a creator" never means "I am God", does it? (I know "the Creator" means God.)

Is my understanding correct?

kitashi : I'm okay. (3)

There was terrible earthquake in Tohoku area in Japan today. Shikoku island where I live in is very far from epicentrum, so I am alright. In fact I didn't notice any trembling when the earthquake occurred.

Very far from the area struck, there is almost nothing I can do now. What can we do...?

BTW, I saw @RachaelLCook wrote "If you make a Godzilla joke now, I will totally block you." in her Twitter. I'm not sure why people talk about Godzilla, but maybe that's not good thing in this situation.

kitashi : J/E Translation Practice -- Venus (1)

I decided to take a translation exam in the end of this month. English-Japanese translation is not a problem for me, but I'm not good at writing English, so Japanese-English translation is really difficult for me.

Below is a sample of the exam, which I translated from Japanese to English. (In fact, this is an 'easier' sample. Actual exam sentences are much longer and harder.)

--
The size of Venus is almost equal to the earth. Venus is 12,100 km (7,500 miles) in diameter.
Venus might seems to like the earth in its size. However, it is considerably different in other respects. First, Venus rotates clockwise, or same direction as clock hands. All other planets of the solar system rotate counter-clockwise, except Venus.
--

Please correct this, and please re-translate into Japanese if you want to try:-)

kitashi : A message in a BBS (0)

Long time, no see!
I wrote the message below in a BBS today. Would someone correct this, please?

お久し振りです！
下記のメッセージを、とある掲示板に書きました。どなたか校正していただけませんか？

----
I'm sorry to reply late, and thank you for giving a chance to implement the feature that you don't like so much.
I understand what you talked about the dependency. I hope people won't complain.

By the way, if a page has been rotated, currently the manual content box looks to be in a wrong position, although their coordinates are same.
It is because the position of the origin and the center of rotation of a page are different.
(I think Mellow-Yellow's method above has same problem.)
I'm now trying to fix this.
----

----

Thank you!
よろしくおねがいします！

kitashi : Came back from Kagoshima (0)

I had visited Kagoshima city for business trip from this Monday to Tuesday.
It took an hour from Kagoshima airport to Osaka international airport. I had heavy headache during the airplane was going down.

The headache came back repeatedly in the afternoon, though I had already been on the ground. Even in the evening.
Did I get a cold? I should sleep enough...

A robot vacuum cleaner has arrived from overseas. After setting him to clean my room, I went out.

He is alone.

I remembered the scenes from a novel I had read, in which an artificial intelligence said "Loneliness is seven," and also an mathematician said "Here is the outside. Define them by yourself."

海の向こうからロボット掃除機が届いた。掃除を始めさせて家を出た。

彼は孤独だ。

孤独は、ナナです。という人工知能の台詞を思い出した。ここが外側だ。自分で決めるんだ。という数学者の台詞も。

(20100123)
