Thing that we don't need
The text is quite big, therefore I will be glad if you correct at least something.

We live in an absurd world with illogical system of values. For instance, there is a great variety of products from which to choose, some of them are really essential, but some of them are nearly useless. These goods are still bought even without advertising. The question is why.
On the whole, our weakness for brand goods and luxuries is not something we like to admit. It is rather shaming to acknowledge that we are willing to buy social status, or that we are foolish enough to spend more than necessary on a product which simply makes us feel or look a little better. However, we do buy this stuff to show our social status or certain social class affiliation, the same way we did centuries ago with animal skins and feathers.
I can enhance my list of unnecessary products by adding books, films and theatre performances. These things cannot feed us or make us feel warmer, neither can they cure diseases. Nevertheless, even during the wars cinemas and libraries were opened. Without intellectual development which they provide, in the case of the war they were vital distracting from horrifying reality and giving hope and something to dream about.
In conclusion, the things which seems unnecessary may have a certain symbolic meaning for us and thus be needed, for example, articles of luxury. Also they may have some spiritual, mental value, and be important even without life sustaining function.
