Thanks Mark. I'd like to ask you this question. What do you think about it?

I'll be honest, I think that more than closing an embassy needs to be done and fast. The Syrian people need our help in forcing out Assad's government. If that means military force, like in Libya, then it, unfortunately, has to happen.

In international affairs, when one country closes its embassy like this it sends a message to the country it is in that it does not like its government - a less strong message is when a country recalls its ambassador, but keeps its embassy open - this is what some European countries have done in Syria.

Yes, I agree with you. The U.S.government sends a message to Syria.

Syria has become a violent place. Violent people often have no direction. The USA decided the country posed too great a threat to the safety of its people, so they withdrew them and closed the embassy. We have had some experience over the years of our embassy becoming a target in a violent world, usually in the Middle East.

When things settle down it is probable the USA will re-open its embassy in Syria.

The newly evolving Egyptian government has decided to hold 19 Americans, possibly putting them on trial for some imagined wrongdoing. It is a political game. But for Egypt, it will cost them more than $1.3 Billion in US aid

Will the USA close its embassy in Egypt? Wait and see.

Perhaps it is a political game. But more often than not, political is always connected to economic together.
