Hello everyone, today is a special holiday. Have you eaten the rice dumplings?
By the way, it is my first day settling in Lang-8, a nice day! For me it's really happy to learn languages with friends from all over the world. I'll try to contact with many of you later.

By the way, it is my first day settling in on Lang-8--a nice day! "settling in" may be used but it's a bit awkward. Also, having "a nice day" at the end of your sentence doesn't make sense. Using "--" (hyphen) maysuit you better if you still want to have that phrase there.
For me it's really I'm so happy to learn languages with friends from all over the world.
