Monkeys Intelligence (サルの知恵)

There is a fig tree in my garden.
I ate many figs the year before last.
They tasted good. I like them.
I was also looking forward to eating them last year.
But unfortunately, I couldn't eat them.
Because monkeys ate the leaf buds of the fig tree in the winter.
Monkeys ate leaf buds, so it couldn't come into leaf normally.
Of course, it didn't die.
But, because the leaves didn't come up normally, it didn't bear.
I thought I had to some countermeasure to prevent monkeys from eating buds in this year.
I tried covering its branches with papers.
I was afraid that they took away papers and ate buds.
But it was needless worry.
Although they ate buds that weren't covered with paper, they didn't ate buds covered with paper.
Human can easily guess that there are buds under the paper.
But, animal is animal!
They can't guess such a easy thing.
I will be able to eat figs this year, since I protected the leaf buds.
I'm looking forward to eat them:)
