Would you correct these sentences as usual?


1> The twin sisters dance very much alike as if unvisible thread tie between them.
その双子の姉妹はまったく同じように踊る。まるで見えない糸でつながっているようだ。

2> Schoolchildren between grades 1 and 6 can get on the train with child's fare.
小学１年生から６年生までは子供料金で電車に乗れる。

3> Between them they helped Ichiro with his delayed work, and somehow they were able to finish in time.
彼らは協力して遅れていた一郎の仕事を手伝ってなんとか納期に間に合わせた。


4> Between you and me, it seems that Makoto was late for school yesterday.
ここだけの話だけど、誠は昨日学校に遅刻したらしい。


5> While I worked hard, he used to come between me and my work.
私が一生懸命仕事をしていると、彼はよく仕事のじゃまをしにくる。

  • 1> The twin sisters dance so alike it's as if there was an invisible thread tied between them.

 
  • 3> Between them they helped Ichiro with his delayed work, and somehow they were able to finish in time.

  • 3> The both of them helped Ichiro with his delayed work, and somehow they were able to finish in time. (Between is usually used when giving something physical, such as money or supplies. If that was the case, your original sentence is correct.

 

Good use of "between"! You're definitely getting it.

Does "both of them" mean only two peoples?

Yes, it does. If it was more than one person, then you could say. "With all of their combined effort, they helped..."

Usually when you say between and it involved people, it just means two people.
