My son's homework.
The original is in Chinese.
"A calf and a lamb were good friends. One day a farmer fed fresh Chinese lettuce to the calf. The calf would like to share it with his good friend. After He buried it under a tall tree, he went to look for a lamb. Not later the lamb came to the tree and found the lettuce. It looked so tasty. The lamb looked around to make sure if there was nobody, and immediately eat it alone."
Question: Which would you like to make friends with? Why?
Model answer: The calf. Because he'd like to share the joy with his good friend.
My son's answer: Either. Because the lamb might have another good point.
I myself really admire his own answer, however, I also know such answer isn't welcome in both Chinese and Japanese society. He must learn what's expected. And the answer is usually, almost always, only one.

Thank you for sharing, Keiko
I think so. The education here is not flexible enough to allow creativity but rely much on model answer
