“The minute I stood up to do something, I forgot the very thing I inteded to do.”
A coworker of mine who was in his early fifties used to talk with me when I worked together.
“I didn’t remember at all what I tried to do. It surprised me.Maybe I’m getting old.”
At times like this, I said.
“It was not a important thing so you forgot it. ”

Now, I realize what he said though I ‘m not in my fifties yet.
I forget things a lot.
When I was a child, I remember all the authers and the titles of the book I read.
Lately I couldn’t remenber not only the titles of the book but the contents of the book.( I remenber that I read it...)

Besides, I’m getting not be able to write kanji with my own hand since I began to use word processors. Word processors convert hiragana into kanji so there is no need for writing.
Being accustomed to convinient tools cause me not to work my brain in a way.
For the moment, I’m goin to study a drill book of kanji to memorize like when I was at elementary school.

My handwriting isn't so great either, since I usually type. But when I write stories, I prefer to do it on paper since it is portable, and I could write stories during class. I do that a lot too, forget things! Yesterday I asked my mother where my headband was, and I was really frantic, and it turned out to be around my neck T__T;;

hehehe, perhaps you should try nintendo's brain training games? :P

I know how it feels. But I dont think it has anything to do with getting old, but rather the way you think when you're old.
just try not to dwell on the past too much, and focus on the present!
always expand your world and try new things! in this way, your brain will stay fit.

I'm sure you filled your brain with lots of memories and ideas that are more fun than kanji. ;)

Ahhh... I'm the same way. I guess we are all forgetful.
In America, every 3rd grader knows all the capitals of all the 50 states. The other day I was thinking about how I can't recall them anymore.

Thenks for comments Rachel san.
There're 47 prefecturals in Japan.I can't remember all of them too...besides, when I was in middle school, I mistook USA and China on the geography exam......(>_<)
I have no sense of geography and direction.
