言語学者として、言葉の持つ響きことをよく考えるんです。時々、意味から言葉を切り離すのが好きです。単に言葉は独特の美しさがあります。以下は、好きな言葉がいつか示します。
As a linguist, I often find myself thinking about the sound of words. Sometimes I like to separate the meaning from the words. Words by themselves have a beauty all their own. Below, I list some of my favorites:
arboreal—樹木の
anemone—アネモネ
chalice—聖杯
cerulean—紺碧 (or 空色)
chime—チャイム
diffuse—拡散する
effervescent—発泡性の
ephemeral—儚い、つかの間のいのち；文語的で教養を感じさせる言葉である。
ennui—アンニュイ, 退屈
gossamer—極めて薄く軽く柔らかく繊細なもの
halcyon—平穏 (my most favorite word)
lassitude—無気力
lilt—陽気な声
mellifluous—(声の調子などが) 滑らかな
murmur—つぶやく
oleander—オレアンダー
panacea—万能薬
perspicacious—洞察力のある
plethora—過多
poshlust—くだらない
scintillate—輝かせる
serendipity—セレンディピティ
susurrus—ささやき

私が綺麗だなって思う言葉は、「木漏れ日」です。でも英語でどういうのかわかりません。Sunlight goes though the woods???
tomoさん, はい。anemoneは磯巾着という意味もあります。You remember that from Finding Nemo? I'm impressed... A lot of these words are very obscure or archaic, so I doubt you're going to run across them very often. ^_^ Hmmm... 木漏れ日... maybe "sunlight filtering through the trees"? That's a tough one...
’色’を表す昔からの言葉は美しいと思います。
もえぎいろ（萌黄色）--- yellowish green
さくら色(桜色)------- light pink
せいじ色（青磁色）-----soft blueish green
すがすがしい（清々しい)----fresh, refreshing
dew----雫（しずく）,露の雫
言葉の響きが好きですか？それとも、意味ですか？知らない単語がたくさんありました。halcyonは心穏やかなイメージがありますね。
私の好きな日本語は”粋（いき）”です。
粋の反対語は”野暮”（やぼ）です。日本独特の言葉です。

I like the word "儚い". The word was listed in your favorite words, I am so glad.
人の夢と書いて「儚い」となるとは、なんとも心に沁みます。
The other word I like is "宵の明星", which means the Venus in the earlier evening sky. The word is very poetic.
Also I like "明けの明星", which means the Venus in the earlier morning sky.

いまふと思い浮かんだのは「風花」です。
空は晴れているのに、雪が風に舞うはなびらのように散ることを言います。

日本語の言葉ですか・・・ 純白。清楚（せいそ） 茜色（あかねいろ）麗らか（うららか）
瑞々しい（みずみずしい）などが頭に浮かびました。
「はんなりとした」：上品で、明るく華やかという意味です。（関西地方の方言です）
「そこはかとなく」：なんとなく感じられるという意味です。
あと色を表す言葉もいいですね。
「萌葱色（もえぎいろ）」：黄色と青の中間色
「浅葱色（あさぎいろ）」：緑がかった薄い青
「藍色（あいいろ）」：濃い青色
「紺色（こんいろ）」：紫色を帯びた濃い青色
「紺碧（こんぺき）」：黒みを帯びた紺色
日本語には中間色を表す言葉が多いと思います。周りにある自然を描写する言葉なんですね。

miimiiさん, 風花... "When the sky is clear but the snow dances about in the wind like flower petals", it sounds like it could be the lyrics to one of your songs! Very nice imagery.
marimaさん, I'm glad you like serendipity as well! I love the word 麗らか, and thanks for teaching me the other words :) 瑞々しい reminded me of another of my favorite english words: "vivacious". I think the meanings are similar.
皆さん, would it help if I read my list of words aloud so you could hear how they sound? If I get enough interest, I might record them and upload them here.
言語学のことは何も分かりませんが、日本では昔から言葉そのものに力が宿っている
といわれていて、（「言霊」といいます）音と意味の関わりが深いような気がします。
私の好きな言葉は、たくさんありますが…
『間（あわい）』、『ところてん』、『フワフワ』（「ふわふわ」ではない！）、『鱗』
などが今思い浮かびました。特に擬態語は面白いと思います！
よく考えるんです。 ←考えるのです。
もちろん「考えるんです」でも意味は通じますが、「考えるのです。」とした方が、美しい日本語だと思います。
