How to read an English novel :sss

I've just started to read the book "Bridget Jones's Diary" in English.

I like this film and watched it several times, so I ought to know its story.
But there is a large number of unknown vocabularies in the book, I can guess to some extent or challenge to understand those meanings though :s

I'm wondering I should try to read the novel without a dictionary...
So far I use a dictionary after reading 1 page :<<<
It takes a long time when looking into a dictionary even 1 page, than I though.

I'm puzzled to think when I finish reading this book :x

It's quite an English English book... if I were you I would read it without a dictionary. Many American English people might also feel they didn't understand it ^^

Yah, the author is a British :^>
My new year's resolution for 2011 might be to keep reading this book!
I see... I'll try to read it through without a dictionary.
Thanks ;-)

My wife bought that book in English and I tried to read it once!

I think you should try to read it with a dictionary, but it has a lot of British slang words, like "shag", "bollocks", and "bugger off". :-)

Sorry for the late reply!!
