Dear sir,

I’m writing regarding your magazine’s article on success. First of all I would like to express my gratitude for bringing up such an interesting subject and giving your opinion on it. I found your work to be thought-provoking which prompted me to give some feedback.

Nowadays it seems like for a lot of people personal success has become an obsessive idea that is incessantly being cultivated by the media. TV ads, glossy magazines, numerous Hollywood films form the image of a picture-perfect life that we all are supposed to strive for. There is nothing wrong about having lots of money and being able to afford luxurious life-style. However, I believe that success can be a double-edged sword. Along the perks of being successful there are burdens. There’s a possibility that one might end up being hostage of his own success. For example a prosperous businessman can be so busy making money that he misses out on the other pleasures of life. After all as a wise man once said: “the best things in life are for free.” Can you buy breathtaking sunsets and sunrises, the versatility of Earth’s picturesque landscapes, joys of love and friendship? The list is arguably endless. Maybe it’s better to spend more time exploring the wonders of the world, immerse into new cultures, travel or enjoy the simple life close to the nature? The questions will remain rhetorical...

There’s also a darker side to people's obsession with money-making. James Cameron’s latest feature Avatar showcases it. Big corporations' greediness leads to irreparable damage to the environment. The film is a cautionary tale that’s trying convince us that not all things can be measured by money. We cannot be driven by income at any price. Otherwise we are doomed to the ultimate downfall.

To sum it up i want to say whether to make success the ultimate goal of your life is matter of a personal choice. Different people are attracted by different things and that's perfectly natural. The important thing is to not get carried away on a way to the top and keep in mind that money is not everything.

Best regards,

Andrey
