좋은 글을 읽었어요. I read a good sentence.

어디서 본 글인지 기억은 나지않지만, 마음에 와 닿네요.
I can not remember where I read this, but it touches me.

증오, 남을 미워하는 마음이란 내가 독약을 먹고 상대가 죽기를 바라는 것과 같다.
Hatred. A strong feeling of dislike for someone is the same as you take poison then you want him to die.

한국어로 된 글을 읽고, 영어 문장을 만들어 봤어요.
I read it in Korean. Then I made an English sentence.

자연스러운 문장으로 고쳐 주세요^^
Please fix it in a natural context.

Thanks~
Lucia~

  • A strong feeling of dislike for someone is the same as you take poison then you want him to die.
  • A strong feeling of dislike for someone is the same as if you take poison when you want him to die. (Or:) A strong feeling of dislike for someone is the same as taking poison when you want him to die.

Wow, that's a powerful idea!
Good translation -- I've changed only a little to make it natural. :)

I won't take poison....haha.
And I don't want anyone to die.
There's an example.

If I have a strong feeling of dislike for someone, I would get anger, rage, and would be unhappy however he would be OK.

If I take poison, I would be painful and die not him.

A hatred is nothing to him(=someone who I hate) but it hurts me.

A strong feeling of dislike for someone is the same as you want someone(who you hate) to die after you take poison.
It's too foolish.
So, don't have hatred in your mind~
That's the point.

증오(hatred), 남을 미워하는 마음이란 내가 독약을 먹고 상대가 죽기를 바라는 것과 같다.

설명이 되었나요? Do I explain well?
It's too difficult to explain. I should study English very hard~

Thanks for your help~

Ah, so my correction was wrong. You mean that you take the poison but expect the other person to die. So it's a contradiction. Instead of hurting the other person you are actually hurting yourself.

Although I think it does hurt the other person as well. If I know someone hates me, it certainly will affect me and bring my mood down very low.

"A strong feeling of dislike for someone is like giving yourself some poison but expecting the other person to die."

Hi Lucia,

I wanted to give you a good translation too, but I couldn't understand you sentence, especially the word 남을.
So after puzzling and searching for a long time, I thought that 나다 could perhaps mean 'to occur, to cross one's mind". Is this right?
But I thought that if you wanted to make a verb into a noun, you had to use ~기'?

Hello~~~~~
long time no see~~~ ^^

남을 = 다른 사람을...
If you hate someone, someone would be 남(내가 미워하는 사람...).
A strong feeling of dislike for someone = 남(=someone)을 미워하는 마음.

And I don't want anyone to die.
There's an example.

If I have a strong feeling of dislike for someone, I would get anger, rage, and would be unhappy however he would be OK.
