I attended the studying club where I have been going for 3 weeks to study english today.

Whenever I go there, I feel a bit nervous.

Because I am forced to speak english in front of many people, usually eventhough I speak korean to the public I am really nervous and frustrated.

But the people who made a presentation in the front today looked confident and their voices didnt were quivered(trembled)

I have a kind of anthrophobia.

I want to get over it but I dont know how to overcome anthrophobia.

Some people say that if you see the people who are in front of you as animals, it makes you feel better and more comfortable.

I tried to do this many times but it doesnt work to me.

They still looked like people who stared at me.

Is there anyone who knows the effective way to overcome anthrophobia?

Anthropophobia (or anthrophobia) is an extremely rare disorder - people with it find it hard to even appear in public; "speech fright" is more appropriate or even "glossophobia" - the fear of public speaking, I don't think you have anthropophobia!

I would say before the speech, just breathe deeply and clear your mind. Stand up straight and confident. Don't use any "ah"s or 'erms' in your speech, just make slight pauses instead. Also, maybe instead of looking at the people in the crowd, look behind them, and just try to project your voice to the end of the room.

Yeah, follow the guy before, also the idea of an animal crowd is quite funny and effective if you know how to use it.
But another great way to get rid of the anxiety is by continually practicing in front of maybe friends and families until you become more comfortable and capable of speaking to a random person perhaps. Later on you can get use to it and being able to speak in public. But anyways good luck in it

hwaiting!!!!

Yes, I understand how you feel. I want to say so much in Japanese, but I don't have that much confidence in myself yet. I think the keys to public speaking is;

1) Make sure you are well prepared. Read over things by yourself as much as you can, until you start to feel comfortable.

2) Just pretend your confident. Speak loud and slow while making eye contact with your audience. Pretend you are an actor reading over a scene.

3) Just relax. Everyone else is probably just as nervous as you are. If you make a mistake it is O.K. No one expects you to be perfect. Your a student learning just like everyone else.

The more you speak in public the better, and more confident you will become.
Good Luck!
