日本語も少し不自然なところがありますが、上手だと思います。

"later alligator..." In Japanese, this phrase is classified as "oyaji-gag" (I don't know why we call it "oyaji" (middle-aged man / father), but word play like they are called as "oyaji". Maybe middle aged man tend to say these kind of gag. )
(But these kind of word play are sometimes considered to cill the air. So, be careful. lol)
Examples of other oyaji-gag (non-word play):
A: トイレ貸して* 。 - Can I use your toilet?
B: 後で返してね。 - Well, (you can) if you give it back later.
* Some people say 貸してもらう instead of 使わせてもらう.
Sense of humor is differ among cultures :)
(子供っぽいですが、仲の良い友達となら１００％OKです。) ＊子どもらしい is for kids having ideal characteristics as kids; for example, kids who are playful, innocent, energetic, etc. I think an English word for it is "childlike". 子どもっぽい means "childish", and is for adults whose behavior or characteristics are like kids.

「great work」ってこの場合ではちょっと不自然そうだと思いますが、使えます。

英語の役立つ表現 *I often see 有用な in English-Japanese dictionaries/translations.
Like other readers, I also laugh out at some expressions that I didn't know. Specifically, phrases used among kids were new to me. I'll try to say them to make English speakers chuckle:D
is <howdy> a short form of <How do you do?>?
As for <farewell>, I'd mention a farewell party as an example. Some Japanese people call it フェアウェル・パーティー in katakana though お別れ会 is more comprehensible for many Japanese people. Sayonara has the nuance that farewell does, so I've not used it for a long time. When I was a kid, I might say it to teachers or the principal. I don't remember..
