The Reason for Studying Nursing

I've been working at kidney dialysis room in a university hospital for about 2 years. Before I came there, I was studying at a university in China. But I had to come back to Japan when I moved up to the second-year class, because I had a health problem and couldn't get an entry visa. Then I was interested in medical field, so I started finding a job in a hospital while I was taking a medical treatment.
Actually I couldn't understand what nurses did in the dialysis room, but the mystery came out little by little. Patients are on a restricted diet and water, and nurses take care of them for teaching and finding the best way to keep self care treatment for daily life. Nurses prepare good surroundings for a patients individually, because patients have to take long time treatment in a day. And nurses sometimes consult with a social worker about a patient who have dementia. Nurses do a lot of things for their patients far exceed my imagination. And I was moved by patients' positive attitude toward their life, and I wanted to support patients who have a chronic disease.
It's not the only reason for desire to be a nurse, but there were complex circumstances behind it. Anyway I think my choice is right. Studying nursing, I feel as if the scales had fallen from my eyes everyday.

How long it takes for being a nurse? Still three years to go or more?

I wanted to be a doctor but you have to do a lot of schooling here so I gave up on that.
You probably see a lot of sad things as a nurse, but being able to help people is a nice thing.
I think nursing is a good choice. Plus, nurses are needed all over the world!
