My New Digital Camera

My husband bought me a digital single-lens reflex camera today! To tell you the truth, my digital camera was broken. I have a blog and have been showing my artwork. So, I really need a camera. My old one wasn't an expensive camera. So, it was difficult for me to take the best shot of my artwork. On the other hand, my new one is really good! It's easy for me to take good pictures.

I'm planning to sell my artwork in Canada this May. Before I will go there, I'd like to advertise it. That's why I needed a good camera. Taking small porcelain's pictures was so hard for me with my old one.

Look at the first picture. I took it with my old camera.

Look at the last picture. I took it with my new one.

I will sell these kinds of miniatures in Canada. That's why I have to take the best pictures of them to advertise my artwork.

I'm super happy right now. I really appreciate my husband! I'm looking forward to updating my blog entries from now on with my new camera!!

  • To tell you the truth, my digital camera was broken.
  • To tell you the truth, my digital camera was broken. [I probably would not use 'To tell you the truth' in this situation. Usually we use it to provide some information that the other person may not want to hear or something that is a little personal to ourselves. I think your camera being broken is not quite that situation. For example "My husband bought me a new car today because my old one was too old. To tell you the truth, I am not so keen on the colour but I don't really want to tell him as it was such a nice thought."]

  • Look at the last picture.
  • Now look at the second picture. [I think it is better to say 'first' and 'second' here, though 'last' is not wrong.]

Congratulations on the new camera Yumi. Your husband clearly understands that good photographs of your work are really important to show them off at their best.

By the way Yumi, your original sentence here was OK. My suggestion is an alternative (I should have made a comment to this effect.)

Hi, Martyn. Thanks for the correction and the comment. Yeah, new camera really works out for me. You are right! I'm happy my hubby is a really thoughtful and kind person. I updated my blog entry. What do you think about my miniatures? I'm nervous if I can sell them or not. I'm making sure people's reaction both on Facebook and my blog. I also want to ask Matt. However, he has been flu in a couple days.

Diffusion screens for your lights may be useful.

I agree with gc3195. By diffusing the light, you will see more even lighting on your artwork without some of the bright reflections that can spoil some of the detail.

Hi, gc3195-san and Martyn. Thanks for the good advice. When I take some pictures, I'd like to try it!
