My Reading Skills

I'd love to try to read more advanced books in English without using a dictionary. I've been reading fifty kid's books in English for three years. Even I read them, I still can't come to like reading. My reading skills are lowest compared to my other skills in English.

I realized that I should read more advanced books in English to enjoy reading. I'm thinking that I'd love to challenge to read Sydney Sheldon first. I loved reading his books with a Japanese translation. I really would love to expand my vocabulary. I also would love to improve both my reading skills and my writing skills. So, I'd love to try it!

I'm surprised to hear that your reading skills are the lowest out of all your English abilities. I think most people find reading easier than speaking or writing. Good luck! I hope you're able to find a book that you enjoy. :)

Hi, arisha-san. Nice to meet you. Thanks for the correction and the comment. I can speak English smoothly, but I can't read books for adult without using a dictionary. I can speak English without feeling negative compared to reading books. I think I can read basic books and I also can write, but I can't write in a natural way even I can express my opinions, thoughts and feelings in English very well. I think that's normal for languages learners. If they learn other language in a natural way, without textbooks, it's hard to language learners to read books for adults without using a dictionary.

'Challenge' can only be used as a verb when challenging people. For example:

I see this mistake all the time in diary entries. What Japanese word does it come from?

Hi, William-san. Thanks for the comment. Challenge is noun in Japanese as チャレンジ. Thanks for teaching!
