Unit 26: Could and could have

I ate curry and rice.
I love them, so I could eat them everyday.

Totally unrelated, today I went to a police station to receive the 5000-yen note that
I have picked up four months ago.
A police officer said, "You need something that can identify your address to
receive the 5000-yen note."
But I didn't have such a thing, so I gave up and was returning home.
But I found the city office near the police station,
and then I got a certificate of residence there.
Now I returned the police station and I could receive the 5000-yen note.

If I hadn't taken it to the police box, I would get it easily.
I'm going to give considerable thought to what to do with the money.

It was very considerate of you to bring the money to the police station. Spend it well.

On a totally unrelated subject, I went to a police station today to receive the 5000-yen note that
"Totally unrelated" is more conversational. In this case, it is better to say "On an unrelated subject" or "On an unrelated topic".

If you wrote about eating curry rice at the end of your journal, you could say, "On an unrelated note" or "As a side note".
