I wouldn't call this a secret question. It is just a question.

The Native speakers tend to use their first names on their responses, don't they?
For example: "Thanks for reading, Tom".
What's the reason for this? benefits are there?

or is it because a name is generally being used?
In Japan we don't call the name.
We use "あなた" generally.
Native speakers address each other on a first name basis, don't they?
When I watched CNN, a caster called a person " first name".
However I always hear the president name is called "surname".
