Solving problems has various ways. Some people support that finding solutions from the past experiences to deal with problems is better; on the contrary, others like to look forward to the future and exerting their creativeness to plan a unique solution. Personally, I prefer to review the past to address problems.

First of all, as the old saying says that history always repeats itself. The natures of events are similar. If people understand this reality, they can escape from possible failures; otherwise, they may make same mistakes. For instance, those kings of historical kingdoms were usually overturned by people due to abusing their power. If a king used his resource and power in an illegal way, his citizens probably will raise a revolution to destroy his authority. In the modern society, although there is no royal family and king in my country, Taiwan, the former president of Taiwan, Mr. Chen, was arrested by receiving bribery. And now he is in jail. After that negative affair, all of his followers do not support him anymore. If Mr. Chen have learnt lessons from the history, he might have controlled his material desire and be an honesty president of Taiwan during his reign.

Besides, governments need to review the history for improving quality of public policies and politicians' behaviors. People in their daily life can get advantages of learning from the past as well. I, as a student, value my final score of every semester. However, no matter how hard I keep new vocabularies in mind, my performance on German exams was always worse than other classmates every semester. I checked my study plan and study quality, and then I realized that when I was studying German, I always ignored speaking practice. That was why I could not use those vocabularies effectively even if I had known how to spell them. Afterwards, I revised my study plan of this semester and spend time on German speaking. Finally, I got a great improvement in the end of this semester.

To sum up, reviewing the past not only assist people to learn from others' experience and avoid making the same mistake as history had ever done, but also allow people to discover their weakness. Hence, reviewing the past is a more effective way to solve problems nowadays.
