The US- Korea joint military exercise

It's reported that the United States and South Korea will have a joint military exercise at sea near China. I can't help but worry about this news. one of my colleagues said that if the suspicions, misunderstanding and conflict be amplified, a war will inevitably happen and our country might be dismembermented into several small countries, and in that case, I have to apply for a passport when go back to my hometown which is far from my workplace...

In that case, I would have to apply for a passport whenever I go back to my hometown, which is far from my workplace.
From their point of view, they imagine a NK nuclear bomb coming in Washington or in Seoul. They feel they have to solve the NK problem.
I guess they have zero interest in any nuclear war with China, which brings in Russia... everybody will die. In a way, nuclear weapons in the large countries keep us safe (so long as they are never used!) because the large countries just want to stay safe. NK with nuclear weapons is something else...
