I don't understand the differences between "I was wondering ~ " and "I was wondering if".
Are both is the same? In other words, "if" can be abbreviated?
Thank you for your kind help in advance.

Are there any differences?
Are they both the same?
In other words, can "if" be left out?
But then, you might want different kinds of sentence.
"I was wondering about your lip gloss, where did you get it?"
"I was wondering if you use lip gloss?"
If you need to ask a question if something is true or not, use "if".
If your question is about a detail of something you already know is true, you don't need 'if'.
Your answer is very easy to understand.
" I was wondering if you would go to the dance with me"
or
"I was wondering why people don't like to dance"
either way it is used, it basically means you were thinking about the subject. :) hope that helps
I was able to understand it depends on the subject.
"I was wondering what time it is." is another way of saying
"What tine is it?"
"I was wondering if it would be OK to see the movie today?"
"Would it be OK to see the movie today?"
"I was wondering who that was you were with."
"Who was that with you?"
"I was wondering when she'd get here."
"When will she get here?"
"I was wondering how many donuts I should buy."
"How many donuts should I buy?"
The phrase after "I was wondering" is always a question in disguise. :)
your answer makes my understanding more clearly.
