So, this is the article in French :
La France privilégiée
Le premier volet du film est sorti le 30 août 2008 au Japon, mais fait exceptionnel, la France a eu l'immense honneur de découvrir le film en avant-première mondiale, le 19 août, en présence de Toshiaki Karasawa (Kenji) et Takako Tokiwa (Yukiji). Lors de la conférence de presse, le producteur exécutif justifia le choix de Paris ainsi : "Parmi tous les pays qui attendent cette trilogie avec impatience, c'est de la France que vient l'engouement le plus fort. C'est la raison qui nous a poussé à organiser cette avant-première mondiale à Paris. C'est aussi un événement spécial puisqu'il marque les 150 ans de relations franco-japonaises. Tout comme la Joconde représente parfaitement l'art du 16è siècle, 20th Century Boys est l'illustration parfaite du manga du 20è siècle." Translation : the title : France as the priviliged country
The first part of the movie was on the screens on the August, 30th of 2008 in Japan. But, exceptional fact/event : France has had the great honour to discover the movie in preview on the 19th August, with the presence of Toshiaki Karasawa (Kenji) and Takako Tokiwa (Yukiji).
At the press conference, the executive producer said why he wanted to preview the movie in Paris : "Among all the countries which expect impatiently the trilogy, France expects it the most. That's why we wanted to organize this preview in Paris. Also, this is a special event, because it takes place in the 150th birthday of French-Japanese relationships. As the Jocund represents perfectly Art in the 16th Century, 20th Century Boys is the perfect embodiment of the manga of the 20th Century".
(The conference had been held at the Louvre museum in the Jocund's room).
That's why I wanted to translate it to you. Besides talking about the movie, it refers to the French-Japanese relationships.
It's funny that a Japanese movie comes out abroad before its own country. Besides, how many time a French movie did a preview in Japan with the presence of its actors (I think about Amelie Poulain, but also other movies) particularly with Jean Reno who is very popular in Japan.
To bring my own greetings to this 150th birthday (which I did not know before reading the article) I would say "Arrigato" to the Japanese (sorry if my Japanese is so bad) "arrigato" for the good relations we have been for such a long time, regarding to the commercial shares, cultural shares and so on. I think we still have a lot to share, and hope the good relationship between our countries will continue.
