unplanned travel

Actually, we supposed to go to the mountain at first. I should have arrived at my friend`s home to pick him up until 10, but I got up at 11. Another friend also slept late, so we changed the plan.
On the way to the beach,we were caught in a big downpour. When I listen the news of the missing at the sea during Typhoon, I often point out "Why did they go to the sea on such a terrible rainy day?" I just tried to act the same thing to them.
As we expected, there was no people at the beach at all.
It blows and rained, we felt cold.
We squirted each other and soaked knee-deep in the sea.
I guess the missing people at the sea did it so, too.
We tried to avoid to get wet, but we got soaked to the skin after all.
One my friends had a touch of cold, but she didn`t care about it.
There was a beach house behind the wildbreak, we decided to have a lunch there.
That restauurant was famous for clam barbecue. One kilo of the natural clam was ￥3300. It was a little expensive for us,but we couldn`t endure to keep still just in front of sweet clams.
It was fantastic! We enjoyed huge,fleshy and tasty clams.
Our plan was ruined, but we had a good time because of our overslept.

I drove to the beach today with my friends.
We were actually supposed to be going to (climb / walk up) a mountain.
I should have arrived at my friend`s home to pick him up at 10am, but I didn't wake up until 11.
One of my other friends also slept late, so we changed our plans.
On the way to the beach we were caught in a big downpour.
When I usually hear stories of fishermen lost at sea during typhoons on the newsI would often say "Why did they go out to sea on such a terribly rainy day?". But today, I just tried to act how the fishermen would.
As we expected there was no other people on the beach at all.
As it was raining and the wind was strong (we all felt very cold / it was cold) on the beach.
We kicked water at each other while we soaked knee-deep in the sea. or On the beach we splashed water at each other and soaked knee-deep in the sea.
I guess the missing people at the sea did it too.
We tried to avoid getting wet but we all got (soaked / drenched) to the (skin / bone).
One my friends had a slight cold but she didn`t care about it.
There was a beach house behind the windbreak (?), we decided to have a lunch there.
There was a restaurant (by the/ in the / next to the) beach house which is famous for it's clam barbecue.
One kilo of the natural clam (was / cost)￥3300.
It was a little expensive for us, but we couldn`t resist temptation as we sat just in front of thesweet clams.
Our original plan was ruined, but because we all overslept we had an extremely good (time / day)at the beach.
