Realizing Lyrics.
Since Shiro desu told me the tune, good life sang by One Republic, I have listened to the song everyday.
The vocal's voice and rhyming are harmonious with the whole, I guess.
On listening to the music repeatedly, I can catch the melody line, but can't get the meaning of the lyrics.
So I have a question for you, mate.
Could you catch the meaning of it readily when you listen to any tunes in your mother tongue?
To tell the truth, sometimes I can't take the meaning of it readily before looking at the lyrics even in Japanese, let alone in English...
Here is the song:
BTW, I made an account and downloaded Skype. So if you'd like to exchange languages, please add me on Skype^^ Of course It's for free!haha

Since Shiro Desu told me about the song, Good Life, by One Republic, I've listened to it everyday.
The singer's voice and rhythm are harmonious with the whole, I guess.
After listening to the song so many times, I can catch the melody, but I don't really understand the meaning of the lyrics.
Do you catch the meaning of a song right away, when you listen to one in your mother tongue?
To tell the truth, sometimes I don't pay enough attention to the lyrics in Japanese, let alone in English...
BTW, I downloaded Skype and setup an account.

The tune is not bat, isn't it??
Realizing Lyrics. (多分「Understanding Lyrics」とか「Interpreting Lyrics」のほうがよく言っていると思います)
Could you catch the meaning of any song in your mother tongue readily if you listened to it?

But, I'd never heard Good Life before. Thank you for sharing it!
I also listen to a lot of music in languages other than my native tongue, so I understand how frustrating it is to not understand...but, I've found translating songs to be one of the best ways to learn!
...as you say though, I can't always even understand songs in English. Especially if they use lots of slang (particularly American) that I don't understand! (^^;

As to the subject name, I just wanted to link the prefix sounds of re(/ri/) with that of ly(li).^^ Many japanese people can't distinguish between the sound of "r" and "l". And I am not exceptional. haha ,but thank you for your advice^^
ありがとうございます。その時はよろしくお願いします。m(_ _)m
I'm sorry for correcting something you intented to write when you'd already thought it out! ^^;
This song is pop, so here is the lyrics to one verse and one chorus, there is no interpretation of lyrics needs, it's pretty straightforward:
Woke up in London yesterday
Found myself in the city near Piccadilly
Don't really know how I got here
I got some pictures on my phone
New names and numbers that I don't know
Address to places like Abbey Road
Day turns to night, night turns to whatever we want
We're young enough to say
Oh this has gotta be the good life
This has gotta be the good life
This could really be a good life, good life
Say oh, got this feeling that you can't fight
Like this city is on fire tonight
This could really be a good life
A good, good life
Then there are songs like, Adele (Rolling in the Deep), that garner loads of interpretative by native speakers and we are still confused by every lyric sung.
Don't know if this helps, but my advice is, if you want to understand the meaning of lyrics is to read them and go through them line by line
it' really helpful for me!^^
Thanks!

So I have a question for you, mate. (this sounds very Australian or British^^)

There is a Michael Jackson song that is actually very nice; it's about ecology and the Earth. But whenever I listen to it, it sounds like nonsense. "What about pineapples? What about mind bags?" Whaaat? No way. lol.
oh, that's interesting. Yeah, MJ's tunes are really cool! I really like the documentary film, "This is it".
Thanks!
