the origin of the word "steward".

I've read a book of smattering knowledge sort, containing uncertain rumours. And what made me laugh was a word "steward(a cabin attendant properly nowadays)" had originally meant "a watch/guard for a pigpen". Even if it's so, it's still agreeable^^
They sure are feeding porcine-looking people on foods taste awful and watching whether they are sitting on their seats without a fuss.
