So many genders!
I have registered myself to the web service called Digg today, only for 'digging' this entry.
http://digg.com/educational/Lang_8_Great_website_to_help_you_with_language_learning
When I saw the registration screen, I found something strange at the "gender" column. The above image is the one. Most of us think that there are only two genders: male and female, but in this screen there were 16 genders in total!
There are:
Guy
Girl
Dude
Lady
Fellow
Bird
Chap
grrrl
Gentleman
Damsel
Beau
Belle
Male
Female
Transgender
None of the Above
Of course I'm a male, but I wish if I were a bird (^^).
Perhaps "bird" is a kind of jargon that refers to some kinds of person, but I don't know such a thing (^^;
I guess that "grrrl" is a girl, although it sounds like a barking dog.
And I've never heard the words: CHap, Damsel, Beau and Belle.
English is still so deep and misterious for me!

For example, men can also be referred to as "dude," "fellow," "gentleman," or "guy." A "beau" is an old word that means "serious/long-term boyfriend," but one would never call themselves by just that word. You don't say "I'm a beau," but could you say, "Amanda and her beau went to the dance last Friday." But only grandmothers use the word 'beau' anymore.
Chap, Damsel, Beau and Belle are all words that are not in common usage these days. Chap is a British word, and just means 'that guy.' But if you tried to use this in a conversation with American people, they would find it funny that you used that word. Damsel is also a very old word, and you usually only see it in fairy tales (the kind that that talk about "knights in shining armor").
Don't forget:
Bloke
Brutha
Boi
Sir
Fella
and
Gal
Dame
Senorita
Sista
Madame
Those are just what I could think of. Are there any more? :-)
Thank you very much!
I don't know if I would use these words in the future, but your information was very meaninguful for me.

...Bird? O.0 I have no idea what that is. I like birds, though....
Thank you for your comment, and very sorry for my late reply!
I still don't know the meaning of "bird" as a "gender".
