Before Sunrise and Before Sunset
While changing channels on telly with a remote control the other day, I struck a film "Before Sunset" which I watched a few years ago.
Of course after watching "Before Sunrise" that is the previous version of "Before Sunset".
At that time I was so impressed by the idea of those films that I deeply hoped that some kind of thing like that would happen to me as well.
But the idea that two strangers came to have some feeling with each other on the first sight and ended up spending time together hanging around a strange city is not an only thing that drawed my mind(=attracted me).
What actually made me love these films was in their meaningful conversations.
I think most romance films don't include philosophical and profound conversation between main characters directly like these.
(I'm not saying there aren't any other great romance films!)
Sometimes I'm getting sick of watching things about repeated and cliche love story without giving something that uplifts my mind in some way.
In that regard, I love their idea showing viewers main characters keeping talking about society, politic, woman, love and life as it is.
That's the way Richard Linklater (director of those films) makes films and shows them to us.
So, after a long time, I came across one of the greatest films, like a destiny (^^;) and looked for their screenplays on the internet to understand and keep in mind what they are saying on those lovely films, line by line. That's a great way to understand films far more deeply.
Also, since I'm studying English almost everyday, that's definitely great for my English study. It serves a double purpose, which is cool!
Many years ago, I actually prefered the previous one which looks more romantic, kind of miraculous and unrealistic. But not now. The following one is also unrealistic in regard to meet again in Paris nine years later. But it has more realistic factors than other one, which I lean toward these days..
Anyway, I have a lot of things to say about these films and main characters, Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke...... but I'm done here..
Maybe next time, I will write some more about them..
+ I'd love to hear views on those films from those who love them or so and any recommendation about simliar films with these will be pleasedly accepted! :)
(Of course so will Corrections!!!!!)

I think "Garden State" and "Lost in Translation" have similar themes and mood.
Actually, if you know any Korean movies like Before Sunset/Sunrise, I'd be really interested to know about them. Those kinds of films are good to learn on. I used to watch a lot of Hong Sang Soo films because he tends to be heavy on dialogue. But his films can be kinda depressing.
Btw, thank you for your correction everytime I wrote my entry and your recommendation as well! I'll watch them for sure.
So far as I'm concerned, there's no Korean film like "Before series"... maybe just I don't know.. but I'll let you know some great Korean romance films.
1. The Classic(2003)
Seung woo Jo and Ye jin Sohn starred in this film, and they are one of my favorite actor/actress because their acting is really great. You can see how 1970-80s in Korea was and a bit different form of expressing love which is far more romantic than now, I suppose.. But don't take it wrong, it shows two different generations in one film. It's kind of cliche but good. I hope you're gonna love it!
2. My Dear Enemy(2008)
Its original title is A Great Day, Do yeon Jeon and Jeong woo Ha featured. Also I love that two actor/actress. The story is pretty unusual but fun and kind of realistic.
I'll just leave it as yours to check what the story is like.
I wanna introduce much more great Korean films but next time..haha!
Feel free to ask me about Korean things~ okay? Then, see ya!
Yeah, his films are certainly different from others and let views ponder. That's what I love about his works. Have you heard of "잘 알지도 못하면서"? It's kind of latest works of Hong. I haven't watched it yet, but soon I will. Many reviews about it are really nice.
I'll look for 멋진 하루. 전도연 is one of my favorites, too. I haven't seen any recent Korean movies in ages, except that vampire movie with 송강호 and 바르게 살자. The latter I saw in a cultural series, not a regular theater. Korean movies don't hit the box office very often here.
The English name for that movie is really ridiculous though. I think the problem was that 멋진 하루 really translates to "A Fine Day" but "One Fine Day" is already the name of another movie.
