Well, in the early stage of learning, it doesn't matter that u don't know the meanings of Chinese readings. In general, Chinese reading doesn't have a meaning or can't be used by itself, it has a meaning by combine another kanji(= jukugo or idiom). On the other hand, Japanese reading makes sense only by connecting kana. So, u may have to learn only meanings of Japanese reading at this time, and then, learn jukugo as a next step. But, remember that it is just one way. It is just my thought. There can be wrong points.
