Hello Tama,

I hope you are having fun in Australia!

I think the best thing you can do since you are in Australia is to
try to find some native speakers to be friends with. If possible, don't
hang out with people from your own country, And try to speak English
at every opportunity. This is the way to learn and become familiar with English.

There is another Japanese person here at Lang-8 that went to America to study
English. And he did just that, made friends with Americans and practiced his English all the time. He has made remarkable progress and so can you!!

始めまして!
All learning is by repetition. Repeat everything.
When you want to learn something, read it three times, write it three times and speak it three times.
Also, people find learning easier when they learn by association.
For example you want to practice names of animals? Go to the zoo. Order from a menu? Go to a restaurant. etc.
Please keep in mind, learning a language is a life long ambition.

Hi Tama,

If you're serious about improving your English, keep away from Japanese friends, Japanese food, Japanese movies, Japanese music and anything else that makes you listen and/or speak Japanese.

Listen to English music, watch English movies, make English-speaking friends.

You will be surprised how quickly your English will improve.
