* I'm from Santiago, Chile.
I want to show you my POV of this tragedy and how I feel this Earthqauke.

I have been without electricity, water and some kind of comunication since this terrible earthquake.
I was visiting Facebook when suddenly, at 3.30 AM, the earth began to shake quietly. But, some seconds later it was stonger and stronger.
I dressed so fast, woke up my little sister and my mother and we started to run to principal door.
It was horrible, I feel like The end of the World was comind soon.
The trees shook strongly, I saw the sky shone because some spotlight blew up.
I was scared!

Finally, when the earthquake stopped, we can see the damage: many things were broke down (glasses), there wasn't light.
All my neighboors were fine! Nobody was affected by the earthquake.
But all of us was still afraid of the aftershocks.
During all the night, the afterschocks still continued.
I couldn't sleep.

But, I hadn't some news about the earthquake because I hadn't electricity.
We only have some lanterns, some water and a radio on runs with battery.
Hence, I can undertand all about this tragic catastrophe.
The earthquake intensity was 8.8 (the fifth more "terrible" in the History of the World). It was from center-south of my country.
I live in Santiago (in center of Chile).
The worst of this tragedy was a serial of TSUNAMIS in all the Chilean coast. First was the 8.8 earthquake and then, the tsunamis.
Many coaster towns, beach was destroyed by the Tsunamis. Many people are in safe because run away to the highest of some hill.

I don't know how to describe this tragedy.
There are many houses, building, facilities broke down
The first day, the Chilean goverment said that there was 300 dead people, but then at the second day there was 1,000 dead people.

I feel so bad. I have friends in South of Chile and don´t know how they are.

And, I feel so disappointed and embarrassed with some people in Chile.
This is a national catastrophe, there is no elecrticity, telephone lines, some food, water... but there are some kind of irresponsible people who ARE STEALING Supermarkets, mini-markets... but they only aren´t stealing food, but SOME electrical appliance, bottles of alcohol, furniture, clothes, everything they can steal.
Now, in the most affected zones, there are military forces because this is out of control.

There is no respect for the people who really NEEDS AID.

  • Nobody was affected by the earthquake.
  • Nobody was injured (or killed)by the earthquake. ("Not Affected" means it doesn't change anything in their lives. Since they lost their homes, etc... they were affected. So it would be better to say they "were not injured" or they "were not killed").

I've also noticed how people tend to riot when there is a disaster... It's pretty sad...

I hope your friends are okay.
